Minimising water loss in urban areas for more sustainable water management
Water demand and water stress are increasing in Spain, to the point that, in some territories, water cuts have been applied as an emergency solution (e.g. Andalusia). In fact, by 2050, water demand is expected to grow by 55% compared to 2015.
Faced with this challenge, SMARTFLOW aims to improve sustainability and reduce the environmental impact of urban water distribution by minimising water losses and reducing operational costs.
SMARTFLOW introduces an innovative approach to face this problem. The project offers an AI-based solution that addresses water losses at multiple levels: from leak detection in distribution networks to minimising apparent losses caused by inaccuracies in meters. With this method, SMARTFLOW will detect leaks within the infrastructure and at households, creating significant operational water savings while reducing environmental impact.
