The pilot plant of the European EPC-EqTech project is now ready to start operations

The spent caustic treatment pilot plant of the European EPC-EqTech project has successfully completed the installation at Tüpraş Kırıkkale Oil Refinery (Turkey)

This project has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it meets the highest standards of quality and safety

The spent caustic treatment pilot plant of the European EPC-EqTech project has successfully completed the installation. This achievement represents an exciting advancement and marks a significant milestone in the effort to introduce advanced technology for the treatment of spent caustic in refineries.

After the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) carried out in Seville, Spain, last October, the plant was ready for its transfer to Tüpraş Kırıkkale Oil Refinery (Turkey). This was a critical part of the development and implementation process of the plant that involved a series of evaluations and simulations to ensure the proper functioning of the plant in its intended operating environment.

Upon arrival in Turkey, experts from DEKRA, Tüpraş, Cetaqua and Aquatec, an Agbar Group company, worked together to identify and resolve any potential issues to ensure the unit was in optimum condition for implementation.

In this way, the EPC-EqTech project, funded by the European Commission under the Fast Track to Innovation programme (FTI), has undergone rigorous testing to ensure that it meets the highest standards of quality and safety before starting the operations.

This pilot plant represents advanced electrochemical technology for spent caustic treatment that will help to reduce waste and promote sustainability in production. With the successful completion of the commissioning, the pilot plant is now ready to be teste, and the innovative turnkey solution will be put into practice.

This achievement marks the beginning of a new era of technological cooperation and industrial development that will have a positive economic and environmental impact on the treatment of spent caustic in refineries.
