IDEATION

IDEATION (InlanD watErs in the digitAl Twin OceaN) is a European project that aims to lay the foundations for a digital twin of inland waters to be integrated into the Digital Twin Ocean (DTO). This virtual representation of inland waters together with oceanic waters will result in a novel unified model of the hydrosphere.

IDEATION, part of Horizon Europe’s Mission Ocean and Waters programme and funded by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), aims to revolutionise the management and understanding of inland water systems: rivers and estuaries, lakes, reservoirs, wetlands, snow and ice, groundwater, coastal and urban waters. Leveraging advanced technologies and cross-border cooperation, the project will provide a comprehensive roadmap, including the design of a reference architecture, defining standards and interfaces to ensure interoperability with the DTO.
