RUAGUA

Implementation of an innovative system of sustainable production and co-governance of regenerated water in A Rúa

RUAGUA

The purpose of Ruagua is to generate a positive impact through a demonstrative project of circular economy in the municipality of A Rúa (Ourense), through the valorisation of the axes water-energy-waste, establishing a replicable model of rural-industrial symbiosis.

Regarding the water axis, it will bring the use of reclaimed water to all productive sectors and public services in a comprehensive, digital and agile way, promoting sustainability through a cooperative governance model to ensure the availability of water during times of drought and thus reduce water stress in this rural environment.

On the other hand, with regard to the energy-waste axes, it will promote zero waste and reduce the use of fertilizers and chemicals, offering high quality compost, and will promote the production of solar energy as a renewable source, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
