New technologies to overcome current barriers to reuse.
REGIREU seeks to achieve recycled water that meets quality standards in an effective, efficient, and cost-effective manner, at a low cost and without posing health risks.
This is done by developing and evaluating innovative and competitive technologies around the world, such as the online E.coli analyser BACT, which has already been validated at the Gavà-Viladecans wastewater treatment plant. This is a preventive tool for the production of recycled water, which has been installed in the recycled water distribution network in Sabadell and is awaiting approval.
In addition, sampling campaigns are underway in both treatment plants to carry out a microbiological evaluation of the plants and an assessment of their microbiological risk. The Regireu project is co-financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund under the 2014-2020 ERDF Catalonia Operational Programme through RIS3CAT.
